Extremophilic architecture is an alternative to the dominant, Capitalist vision of “sustainable design,” one that sheds the often sterile tendencies of contemporary "green" aesthetics for a more septic, bio-inclusive and wild alternative, while expanding the architect's field of vision to include the more-than-human; the human body; the tools, products, prosthetics and devices we humans use; and investigating the biological systems and physiological processes of the human and the more-than-human to inform an architecture that might be considered “living.” Extremophilic architecture isn't inspired by nature, it is a hybrid of nature and human culture - writhing and pulsating, decaying and excreting, consuming and being consumed.
